Our Organization

What is Good Folks?

Since 1991, a group of York County citizens and businesses join together once a year at a luncheon in December to donate dollars to make a significant difference to a deserving local nonprofit organization serving residents in need in our community. For more more information please download our brochure.

Membership

Good Folks Membership is open to anyone who pays the annual dues of $30. Named sponsorship levels are available for individuals, businesses, and organizations who are able to give back at a more significant level.

Recipient Selection

The deserving nonprofit organization is chosen by the Good Folks Board of Directors through a competitive application process each summer. Good Folks Members may nominate organizations to be considered for the annual gift provided the proposed recipient is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization.

Purpose of the annual gift from Good Folks

The annual gift, which of late has been in the range of $60,000 to $70,000, is earmarked for a special need of the charitable organization not covered by normal operating income or expense.

How does Good Folks provide the gift?

Your regular membership fee ($30/year) covers a portion of the organization’s expenses for the year, including mailings, the annual luncheon, and administration. Good Folks is an 'all-volunteer' organization - we have no paid staff.  The December luncheon (underwritten by sponsors and special gifts) is an 'ask' event where contributions are solicited during the luncheon from attendees.

Contributions from the luncheon go directly to the chosen York County organizations(s) as a special gift from Good Folks.

Good Folks Charitable Status

Good Folks is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Contributions to Good Folks are deductible as allowable by law - please consult your tax advisor with any questions. Good Folks of York County Federal Tax ID number: 57-0999010
